Knights turn defensive plate into offensive weapons to lead from the vanguard. Taught by a Lord via combat drills and squire instruction. Requires a dedicated forge, an experienced Lord, and a patient blacksmith.

LocationEvery significant castle, fortified keep, or military outpost across Otan.

The Knight’s role is to lead from the absolute vanguard, absorbing the initial, most violent shocks of a battlefield so their followers might survive. While Otan’s master blacksmiths produce exceptional plate, even the finest steel is insufficient for such a suicide mission. Through the Code of Armor, a Knight manifests their "Will" to turn a defensive shell into a living weapon system.

To these Knights, armor is not a burden; it is an offensive tool. They utilize proactive positioning to knock back foes with a shoulder-check or trample them with an armored mount. Most impressively, the Code allows a Knight to "reflect" damage, returning the force of an enemy’s strike without ever lifting a sword. A Knight who has mastered this Code is a walking fortress, nearly invincible in the thick of a melee.

Training for the Code of Armor requires a functional armory, a sprawling training field, and a dedicated blacksmith to recalibrate the steel as it begins to respond to the Knight’s "Will." The instructor is always the Knight’s Lord, who guides them through grueling physical drills. A unique aspect of this education is the requirement of legacy: a Knight does not truly master a power until they have successfully passed the foundational training along to a squire. While the Lord provides the guidance, it is the Knight’s own lived conviction, and the eventual "assent" of their mentor, that triggers the manifestation of the Knight's new supernatural power.
