Power through divine "Truth" and the Old Otani language. Divines learn by fasting and chanting in sealed Sanctuaries. Teachers are found in temples, but rare powers require seeking lost scrolls.

Training forDivine

The Conclave of Augury is the intellectual and prophetic heart of the Divine archetype. Its members hold a fundamental disdain for the secular methods of the Sophist; where a scholar seeks truth through research, the Divine of Augury seeks the undisputed "Truth" directly from their deity. To this Conclave, the only reality that matters is the Divine Will, and the primary tools for accessing it are Words.

Through the mastery of sacred linguistics and prayer, a Divine can peel back the veil of the physical world, perceiving the hidden lay of the land or pinpointing the exact position of entrenched enemies. At higher levels of attunement, these Divines can prophesy the outcomes of grand conflicts, speak in the "multitude of tongues" to any race on Otan, or even manifest a "Word of Power" so potent it can physically unmake an enemy.

Teaching Methods

Instruction within the Conclave of Augury is an exercise in total spiritual and physical devotion. The complex litanies and liturgies required to channel these powers are learned from a Senior Divine, with a heavy emphasis on Old Otani, the ancient predecessor to the common tongue, believed to be the language of the gods themselves. Spoken Old Otani often serves as the literal "key" that activates a power.

To master a power, students and teachers are relegated to a sealed Sanctuary where they must fast and chant the liturgies until they are learned by rote. It is a trial of endurance; students who succumb to hunger or lose concentration mid-chant fail the lesson and must start the penance anew. Many Divines make several grueling attempts before finally perfecting the liturgy and igniting the power within.
