Crystal Coven

The Crystal Coven is the darling child of the Witch universe. Crystal Coven Witches believe that there need only be one coven, theirs, and one archetype; Witches, and that this is enough for the universe, because everything within it has something to do with crystals.
While the rest of the world might call them mad, Crystal Witches look at the rest of the universe the exact same way. To be fair, their impressive abilities make a very strong case. Crystals possess the natural ability to store Power. They can hold a massive amount of energy, and the most powerful Crystal Witches believe that perfect, flawless crystals exist that can store unlimited power.
Students of the Crystal Coven learn to use these minerals to amass and store power, which they can then unleash against their enemies. Furthermore, Crystal Witches can learn to create Liquid Crystal—the liquefaction of crystal that can be infused into other magical constructions. Liquid Crystal is perhaps the most powerful single "ingredient" on Otan, giving the Crystal Witches a major avenue by which to channel their hubris.
This capacity for external storage naturally breeds hubris, as it is a highly coveted skill sought after by every other archetype. While any person of any archetype can learn to store more power internally, they cannot store it externally. Wizards, in particular, are deeply reliant on this phenomenon, using crystals in their staves. This makes Witches invaluable allies in the research and development of more powerful artifacts.
Teaching Methods
Unlike other archetypal schools, Witch covens are far more intimate. Classes usually consist of one-on-one instruction and take place right in the Witch's home. In rare circumstances, there may be two or three students, but the standard intake is a single apprentice. Witches seeking new powers will live with their instructor, perform chores, and labor in the setup of any rituals needed to manifest the Power.
Students help grow crystals in chemical solutions or under special underground conditions. Some Witches actively dig in both above-ground and below-ground mines looking for pristine crystals and mineral geodes. Students assist their instructor with the harvest, then curate and prepare the found crystals until they are ready to receive power.
Students also take part in documenting the precise procedures required to prepare crystals for a specific Power. The Power will come to the student naturally after enough time is spent working with the power storage. Students may leave their instructor immediately after the Power is granted.
Once they depart, they must be careful to collect the "recipe" for the crystal preparation and guard it carefully so they can repeat the process. Payment for the lesson is as varied as the Witches themselves, but it often takes the form of a gift or favor. Crystal Coven Witches are particularly partial to rare crystals and new recipes not already in their collection books.
