Living things have several types of memory. Sophists have argued, and Shamans mostly agree, that flesh knows the shape it is supposed to form. There is something within the flesh that remembers the whole of the flesh. Further, the mind has memories. The mind can remember the body in its whole state. Lastly, the spirit, which remembers the length and breadth of the body it inhabits, and possibly countless bodies prior.
The Circle of Restoration draws upon all of these memories to restore a broken body, mend a cracked spirit, or heal a tortured mind. These three sets of Powers combine to make the most highly-trained of the Circle of Restoration truly holistic healers. Perhaps matched only by Witches, they can restore all the damage a person might suffer.
Teaching Methods
Shamans are not a bookish Archetype. They teach by rote, using songs and traditions to invoke their Powers. Neither Sophists nor the Shamans themselves know how much of their rituals and ceremonies are necessary to the implementation of their powers. All is preserved, however, and if healing requires a certain song, then that song is required, even if it's not required by the gods or the universe that grants the power.
Like Shamans of other schools, students will apprentice with the teachers. They will help to set up the healing rituals and perform the healings alongside their teachers. At some point, when the student successfully gains the power, they will see evidence that the healing of their patients is doubled. No payment is made to the teacher unless offered. Their labour is payment.
